As part of an ongoing partnership to promote the success and continued development of the Environmental Management and Assessment Program (EMAP), CSG and U.S. EPA will be hosting the Eighth National EMAP Symposium in Washington, D.C., April 10-11. The symposium will focus on the achievements in monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental protection. As such, the meeting will be of great benefit and interest to environmental monitoring practitioners as well as those responsible for shaping research and policy in the states.
Symposium organizers are anticipating as many as 400 participants from natural resource management, research and policy fields from across the nation. Invited speakers include several EPA and ORD officials, including ORD Assistant Administrator George Gray, who will serve as the meeting facilitator. Tribal and state government participation is especially encouraged; sessions will emphasize discussion of research and assessment needs.
Registration materials are available, and the registration deadline is March 15. A limited number of travel assistance scholarships are available for state and tribal employees. For more information on the meeting or travel assistance please contact Krista Rinehart, or call her at 859-244-8249.
